Behind and to the left, the southern facade of the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague is depicted in fine engraved detail, showing its Gothic arched windows and pitched roof. To the right of the portrait, a multi-line historical inscription in Czech occupies the lower field, recording the date on which Jan Hus was appointed administrator and preacher at the newly built Bethlehem Chapel in Prague. The subject's name appears as a legend in the upper arc of the field. The engraver's initials appear discreetly to the right of the portrait. |
