Reverse description A bold and dramatically composed close-up portrait of the crowned Czech Lion rendered in high relief against a segmented geometric background evoking the traditional quartered heraldic shield. The lion's head, facing left with a naturalistic, textured mane, is surmounted by an ornate royal crown. To the right of the lion's head, the stylized double tail of the heraldic lion is rendered in incuse outline against the polished field. The legend ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA is inscribed in two lines to the left of the central device, while the weight and fineness inscription 1000g Ag 999 appears in a curved line along the lower right, accompanied by the Czech Mint mark.

Additional information

The Czech Lion series, produced by the Czech Mint for Niue, has become one of the more commercially successful bullion programs in central Europe — the one-kilogram format sits at the top of the range and is struck in comparatively small quantities relative to the smaller denominations in the series. Charles III's accession in September 2022 following Elizabeth II's death required rapid redesign of the obverse across dozens of active Niue coin programs, and this 2024 issue reflects the Jody Clark effigy of Charles that has now been standardized across Commonwealth-affiliated bullion coinage.
