Correggio was a tiny independent county in Emilia, and its coinage authority rested on imperial privilege rather than any meaningful economic weight. Siro of Correggio ruled during a period when the county was increasingly squeezed between larger powers, and small billon issues like this one served local exchange needs while the dynasty clung to its autonomy. The county was eventually absorbed into Modena in 1635, just years after this series concluded, making the entire run of Siro's coinage a product of the final chapter of Correggio's independence.
