| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle on an irregularly shaped klippe flan, the royal monogram of Christian III is prominently displayed in the field: the letter C surmounted by a small cross, flanked by the numerals 3 and 5 forming the date 1535, with a crowned or ornamented element below the C. The design is rendered in a bold, somewhat archaic hand-struck style characteristic of Danish emergency or siege coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The legends are limited to the monogram elements themselves, with no surrounding inscription. The flat, uneven surface of the flan reflects the irregular hand-cut nature of klippe production. |
