Obverse description Central device depicts a crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head facing outward; the eagle bears a shield on its breast and holds orb and sceptre in its talons. A small cross surmounts the imperial crown above. The circular legend reads FRANCISCUS II D.G. ROM. IMP. SEMP. AUGUSTUS with the date 1797 incorporated into the legend, all within a plain border. The design reflects the arms of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis II as overlord, rendered in a clean, late-eighteenth-century engraving style.
