Reverse description A left-facing bust of an indigenous American woman — personifying Liberty — occupies the central field, her long straight hair falling to the shoulder and her head adorned with a full feathered headdress bound by a fillet, emblematic of American freedom. The portrait is rendered in high relief with clean, neoclassical lines. The circular legend LIBERTAD AMERICANA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date ·1819· is inscribed at the lower portion of the coin. The toothed border frames the design on all sides, consistent with milled coinage production at the Popayán Mint.
