| Beschrijving voorzijde | Host coin of Spanish colonial origin bearing the draped bust of King Charles III facing right, struck at the Lima Mint. The Type I Costa Rican countermark — a radiant six-pointed star within a small incuse circle of approximately 7 mm diameter — is applied to the obverse field. A circular hole, characteristic of the Costa Rican cut and countermark emergency coinage practice, pierces the left side of the coin. The peripheral legend in Latin encircles the royal effigy, interrupted by the hole and the countermark. |
