| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse retains the standard design of the Lima Mint Spanish colonial 8 Reales host coin, featuring the crowned Royal Arms of Spain at center, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with banderoles. The quartered shield displays the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with a central oval pomegranate escutcheon. The peripheral legend in Latin, partially visible due to the circular hole punched through the left side of the flan, reads HISPAN ET IND REX with the mint mark LIMAE, denomination 8R, and assayer initials J.M. The overall design is consistent with the macuquina-era transition to milled coinage produced at Lima between 1772 and 1789. |
