| Reverse description | Reverse of the Spanish colonial 8 Reales host coin, displaying the quartered royal arms of Castile and León surmounted by an ornate crown, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with scrolling banners. The surrounding legend reads ·HISPAN· / ·IND·ET·REX· with the denomination numeral 8 and assayer initials to the left. A round hole, corresponding to that on the obverse, is pierced through the lower left quadrant of the shield, partially obscuring the design. The field shows characteristic wear and iridescent toning consistent with a circulated colonial issue. |
