| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Royal Arms of Spain, a quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lys in the inescutcheon, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The denomination numeral '8' appears to the right of the shield, with the assayer mark 'MF' to the left. The encircling Latin legend reads PHILIP · V · D · G · HISPAN · ET IND · REX, identifying Philip V as King of Spain and the Indies. The coin exhibits the characteristic milled border with fine dentilation around the full circumference. |
