Reverse description The Pillars of Hercules design occupies the central field, depicting two crowned columns rising from stylized waves, each entwined with a banner bearing the motto PLVS VLTRA in three segments divided by the pillars. The denomination '8' appears prominently between the columns at the top, flanked by the assayer's initial 'E' to the right and the mint mark 'P' to the left. A crowned royal shield is placed between the pillars at centre. The outer Latin legend, partially visible on the irregular flan, reads HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM REX, enclosed within a beaded border.
