Reverse description The reverse of the host coin retains partial elements of the original colonial Mexican milled coinage design, now largely obscured by the countermarking process and wear. The letters 'S', 'U', and 'D' are visible in the lower central field, likely representing a partial legend or additional insurgent countermark. The field is heavily worn and porous, consistent with the clandestine and hasty nature of insurgent monetary production during the Mexican War of Independence. Remnants of the original crowned royal arms or pillar-and-globe motif of the host coin may be discerned in the upper field.
