| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Royal Arms of Castile and León, rendered in the cob (macuquina) style with the characteristic quartered shield showing castles and lions. The shield is flanked by the pillars of Hercules with crowns. The peripheral legend in Latin reads PHILIPPVS V DEI G, accompanied by the date 1733 and the Mexico City mint mark Mo with assayer initial F and denomination 8, all separated by ornamental rosette devices. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with the cob coinage tradition, and the overall design reflects the hand-struck appearance reproduced in this modern copper replica. |
