Reverse description The reverse displays the early republican arms of Peru: a central oval shield bearing three horizontal bands representing the three kingdoms of nature — fauna, flora, and mineral wealth — supported on either side by crossed flags and flanked by a vicuña to the left and a cinchona tree to the right. A cornucopia appears at the base of the shield, tied with a ribbon bow. The mint mark, denomination, assayer initials, and date are distributed around the circumference in the legend REPUBLICA PERUANA, with the date 1823 appearing in the exergue below the shield. The field shows typical wear consistent with circulation.
