| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse of the host coin features the right-facing laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IV of Spain, struck at the Potosí Mint in 1790. The peripheral legend reads CAROLUS IV DEI GRATIA, separated by pellets, with the date 1790 positioned in the lower exergue. Prominently applied at center is the circular Philippine countermark of Isabella II, depicting a crowned castle or royal cypher device, punched in sunken relief into the coin's field to validate the host piece for circulation in the Philippines during 1834–1837. A small rosette or flower privy mark is visible to the right of the bust in the field. |
