Obverse description Imaginary laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, the effigy rendered by local engravers without reference to an actual portrait of the king, wearing a laurel wreath and military dress with decorative buttons visible at the chest. The circular legend reads FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA, with the mint date 1811 placed in the lower exergue between two pellets. The portrait is set within a beaded border and displays the characteristic stylized features associated with the so-called 'imaginary bust' coinage of the Santiago mint.
