Obverse description Armored and laureate bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in low relief in the provincial style characteristic of the Durango emergency mint. The effigy is draped in armor with visible pauldron detail at the shoulder. The circumferential legend is divided by the date at the base of the field, reading FERDIN * VII * DEI * GRATIA * with the mint year incorporated into the legend. The coin exhibits the somewhat crude engraving typical of royalist provincial issues struck during the Mexican War of Independence.
