The circumferential legend reads F. 7. o · FERDIN · VII · DEI · GRATIA · with the date 1821 positioned in the lower exergual area. Two distinct Philippine countermarks have been applied to the obverse field: a large circular crowned F·7° (Ferdinand VII) countermark punched prominently below the bust, and multiple smaller cross-shaped or grid-pattern chop marks visible across the portrait and field, authenticating the coin for circulation in the Philippines. The milled edge and overall fabric are consistent with the milled coinage of the Zacatecas Mint. |
