| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the crowned quartered royal arms of Spain, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the principal quarters, with the escutcheon of Anjou (fleur-de-lis) at the inescutcheon, surmounted by a large ornate royal crown. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the right of the shield and the mintmark S (Seville) with assayer initial P to the left, flanked by six-pointed rosette stops.
