Obverse description The quartered arms of Castile and León — alternating castles and lions — are displayed on a central shield surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. The escutcheon incorporates the additional quarters of Aragon, Granada, and the fleur-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the inescutcheon. The circular legend PHILIPPUS V D G runs along the periphery, separated by small rosette ornaments, within a milled border.

Reverse description The quartered coat of arms displaying alternating castles and rampant lions is set within a four-lobed (quatrefoil) shield, divided by a plain cross, all contained within an octolobe cartouche. The date 1729 appears above the central design flanked by the Seville mint mark 'S' on either side. The circular legend HISPANIARUM REX S surrounds the design, punctuated by rosette stops, within a milled border.
