Obverse description Central field displays the quartered royal arms of Castile and León within a shield, featuring castles and lions in alternate quarters, with Granada in base and a small escutcheon at center. The crowned shield is surmounted by a royal crown of five arches. A partial circular legend in Latin surrounds the device, though much of it is obscured due to the characteristic irregular flan of hammered coinage. The strike is bold on the shield but weakens toward the periphery, typical of cob-style macuquina production.
