Reverse description The reverse retains the design of the host Spanish colonial milled 8 Reales, featuring the crowned royal arms of Castile and León at center, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with scrolling banners. The partial legend reads HISPAN · ET · IND · R and includes the mint mark and assayer initial, consistent with Mexico City Mint production. The surrounding field bears the characteristic milled border of the macuquina-style coinage.
