| Reverse description | The crowned Arms of Spain occupy the central field, depicting the quartered royal shield with castles and lions in the principal quarters, an escutcheon of the French Bourbon fleur-de-lis at center, and supporters consisting of the Pillars of Hercules flanking the shield, each pillar bearing a banner with the motto PLUS ULTRA. The denomination 8R and the mint mark PTS with assayer initials appear to the left of the shield. The circumferential legend reads HISPAN ET IND REX, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies. A toothed milling border frames the reverse field. |
