| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of late colonial Spanish American coinage. The effigy shows the king wearing Roman-style armor with an elaborate lace cravat and a laurel wreath in his hair. The circular legend surrounding the bust reads CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA with the date 1796 positioned at the base of the design. A toothed milling border frames the entire obverse field. |
