Reverse description The quartered royal arms of Spain displayed on a crowned heraldic shield occupying the center of the field, featuring the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternate quarters, with the central escutcheon bearing the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty. The crowned shield is flanked on either side by the mint mark M and the denomination numeral 8, with the assayer initials M (Madrid) positioned to the left and right respectively. The circular legend HISPANIARUM · REX · reads around the periphery, identifying the monarch as King of the Spains. The overall design is executed in the refined neoclassical engraving style of the late eighteenth-century Spanish milled coinage.
