Obverse description Laureate and draped right-facing bust of King Carlos III occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curled hair and period costume. The effigy is of classical portrait style, characteristic of the engraving work of Tomás Francisco Prieto. The circular legend CAROLUS III · DEI · G · reads around the upper periphery, divided by the portrait, with the mint date 1788 appearing in the lower exergue below the bust. The coin's milled edge is visible at the rim, and the field surrounding the portrait is smooth and unadorned.
