| Obverse description | Laureate bare head of King Ferdinand VII facing right, with tied laurel wreath and short hair, occupying the majority of the coin field. The denomination numeral '8' appears to the right of the effigy, and the small Segovia aqueduct mint mark is visible to the left. The encircling Latin legend reads FERDIN · VII · D · G · HISP · REX, interrupted at the base by the date 1833, all separated by dot stops. |

| Reverse description | Central quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and rampant lions of León in alternate quarters, surmounted by a small oval escutcheon bearing three fleurs-de-lis representing the Royal House of Bourbon. The shield is set within a floriated cross of Don Pelayo, whose four arms terminate in stylized decorative ends. A continuous wreath of laurel or olive branches encircles the entire composition, filling the perimeter of the field. |
