8 Lire

The Ligurian Republic was a French satellite state proclaimed in Genoa in June 1797, directly following Napoleon's reorganization of northern Italy. Its coinage borrowed the decimal-adjacent logic of Revolutionary France while retaining denominations legible to local commerce — the 8 Lire unit having deep roots in Genoese monetary tradition. The republic survived less than a decade before Napoleon absorbed it directly into France in 1805.

The short emission window of 1798–1799 kept total production low. Pagani lists this as one of the scarcer republican types from the Ligurian series.
