| Obverse lettering | سلطان البرين وخاقان البحرين السلطان مصطفى خان عز نصره (Translation: Sultan of the 2 lands and 2 seas Sultan Mustafa Khan May he be victorious) |
| Reverse description | The reverse presents a centrally placed Arabic inscription divided into three horizontal lines within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded border matching that of the obverse. The legend records the mint city of Tunis and the AH regnal year 1188, confirming the place and date of striking. A decorative foliate or floral ornament surmounts the uppermost line of text, a common embellishment found on Tunisian hammered coinage of this period. The fields are flat and show the characteristic uneven surface texture of hammered billon production. The overall design is austere and epigraphic, with no subsidiary devices other than the floral finial above the inscription. |
