Obverse description Central field occupied by a four-line Arabic tughra-style inscription arranged within a divided rectangular framework, bearing the full titles and name of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II. The inscription reads 'Sultan of the Two Lands and Khan of the Two Seas, Sultan Mahmud Khan, may his victory be glorified,' rendered in ornate Arabic calligraphy. The entire design is enclosed within a bold beaded border encircling the coin's periphery. No figurative elements appear; the composition is entirely epigraphic in the Ottoman chancery tradition.
