The surrounding Latin legend reads +P R ELEC T COLO N BA-D, abbreviating Princeps etElector Coloniensis Bavariae Dux, identifying Ferdinand of Bavaria as Prince, Elector of Cologne, and Duke of Bavaria. The hammered flan shows characteristic irregularity at the edges, and the relief is moderately bold despite wear.
