Obverse description Large interlaced cypher of Landgrave Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel, formed by the intertwined letters F and W rendered in an elaborate cursive script with foliate flourishes and scrollwork at the base, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The monogram is surmounted by a detailed electoral crown with arched bands and cross-finial. The coin's border features a continuous milled or grained edge pattern.

Reverse description Denomination numeral '8' displayed prominently at the top center of the field, flanked by two small six-petalled rosette ornaments. A third rosette ornament appears below the date at the bottom of the field. The border replicates the milled pattern of the obverse.
