The 8 Gute Groschen denomination was a workhorse of Prussian circulation coinage, distinct from the parade of Thaler-sized issues that tend to attract collector attention. Frederick II inherited a Prussian mint system already rationalized by his father but pushed coin production to new extremes during the Seven Years' War — though 1753 precedes that conflict, it falls squarely within his aggressive early monetary consolidation of Silesian territories seized in 1740.
Kluge's attribution as FrII#83b indicates a die variant within the type, worth checking against the obverse legend spacing and the specific mintmaster's privy mark.
