| Obverse description | Draped bust of Duke Adolphus Frederick IV facing right, his hair tied back with a ribbon in the fashion of the period. The effigy is rendered in a restrained baroque style typical of minor German state coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. A Latin circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading ADOLPHUS FRID. IV. D. G. DUX MECLENBURG, with the abbreviated ducal title distributed around the full periphery of the coin. The field is unadorned, with the bust occupying the central portion of the flan. An inner toothed border frames the legend. |
