Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Matthias II facing right, wearing an elaborate ruff collar and a jeweled crown. The effigy displays fine detail in the armor and lace collar, rendered in the mannered style typical of early 17th-century Habsburg coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading from the upper right and continuing around the entire periphery of the coin.
