Reverse description The reverse bears a stylized portrait of Prince Henry the Navigator (D. Henrique o Navegador, 1394–1460), patron of Portuguese maritime exploration and son of King João I and Philippa of Lancaster. The effigy is rendered in a bold, modern artistic style by sculptor J. Cutileiro, capturing the Prince in profile or three-quarter view with strong, expressive lines characteristic of contemporary Portuguese medallic art. The legend 'D. HENRIQUE O NAVEGADOR' arcs around the design, accompanied by the date '2006', the series inscription 'PERSONALIDADES EUROPEAIS', and the mint mark 'INCM · JC' identifying the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda and the engraver.
