Reverse description The crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms occupies the central field, displaying the castles of Castile, lions of León, chains of Navarre, and pomegranate of Granada, with the escutcheon of the French Bourbons (fleurs-de-lis) at center. The shield is surmounted by an ornate royal crown and flanked by floral sprays. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the left of the shield and the assayer initial S to the right; the mint mark GA and assayer initials MR are placed in the lower field. The circumferential legend is divided across the upper and lower periphery, all within a toothed border.
