Obverse description Draped bust of Carlos IV facing right, struck in the name of Fernando VII, rendered in the neoclassical style inherited from the earlier reign. The effigy shows the king in armour with an elaborate lace cravat and a queue tied with a bow at the nape of the neck. The circumferential Latin legend reads FERDN·VII·D·G·HISP·ET·IND·R·, interrupted at the base by the date flanked by dots. A toothed border runs along the full periphery of the coin.
