The Lima cob coinage of Fernando VI bridges the final years of macuquina production in Peru. By the late 1740s, Madrid had already mandated the transition to milled coinage at most colonial mints, and Lima's cob output during this reign was winding down toward its formal end — making the Fernando VI series among the shortest-lived and lowest-mintage in the entire colonial gold sequence for that facility.
