| Obverse description | Quartered shield of Castile and León within a plain cross forming four quadrants, displaying alternately castles (for Castile) and lions rampant (for León) in the respective quarters. The irregular cob flan results in partial visibility of the surrounding legend and beaded border. The design is struck in the characteristic crude hammered style of colonial macuquina coinage, with bold but unrefined relief typical of the Lima mint's cob production. |

| Reverse description | Bold cross pattée dividing the field into four quadrants, each containing a single letter or numeral: P (mint mark for Lima) upper left, V (assayer) upper right, the date numerals in the lower quadrants, and the denomination numeral 8 prominently displayed above the cross. The legend partially visible around the irregular flan reads the royal titles and territorial designations. A partial beaded border surrounds the design, consistent with the rough, irregular planchet characteristic of cob coinage. The letters and numerals are deeply struck in the hammered tradition. |
