Obverse description Draped bust of Felipe V facing right, depicted with a long flowing wig of curled locks in the baroque court style, set within the coin's field. The Latin legend PHILIP · V · D · G · HISPAN · ET IND · REX encircles the effigy along the upper periphery. Below the bust in the lower field appear the mint mark E, the date 1728, and the denomination numeral 8, separated by pellets. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the drapery and hair, characteristic of early eighteenth-century Spanish milled coinage.
