Reverse description Bold ornate cross potent with lions and castles in the four angles, all contained within a double quadrilobe or tressure frame, itself set within a circular inner border. A partial Latin legend runs around the periphery of the irregular flan. The cross design follows the standard type employed at the Mexico City mint for colonial gold cob coinage of this period.
