Reverse description The crowned quartered royal arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the castles of Castile, lions of León, the paly arms of Aragon, and the chain of Navarre, with the pomegranate of Granada in base and the French fleurs-de-lis in the center escutcheon, all encircled by an elaborate wreath of laurel and floral ornaments. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the left of the shield and the assayer's initial S to the right. Below the shield, the mint mark PTS (Potosí) and assayer initial PR flank a small mintmark device. The circumferential legend IN·UTROQ·FELIX·AUSPICE·DEO, meaning 'Happy in both worlds under the auspices of God,' runs around the periphery in incuse Latin lettering.
