Reverse description The crowned quartered arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, the pales of Aragon in the second, and the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the third, with the pomegranate of Granada at the base. The shield is encircled by a wreath of laurel and palm branches tied at the bottom with a ribbon bow. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the left of the shield and the assayer initial S to the right. The mint mark P and assayer letters P·R appear at the base below the wreath. The circumferential legend IN UTROQ FELIX AUSPICE DEO surrounds the design, with the mintmark completing the legend at the base.
