Reverse description The quartered arms of Spain within an ornate shield, surmounted by the royal crown, and encircled by a laurel and palm wreath tied at the base with a bow. The quarters display the castles of Castile and lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, the chains of Navarre and pomegranate of Granada in the base, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis escutcheon in the center. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the left of the shield and the Lima mint mark S (assayer) to the right; the legend AUSPICE DEO reads on the right and NITRO FELIX and the mint mark ME with assayer initials IJ appear at the bottom.
