Reverse description The crowned quartered royal arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in the principal quarters, with the escutcheon of Anjou (fleurs-de-lis) at the fess point and the pomegranate of Granada in base, all surmounted by a large ornate royal crown. The shield is encircled by a decorative wreath of laurel and floral branches. To the left of the shield appears the denomination numeral 8, with the assayer's initials flanking the mint mark below. The circumferential legend IN·UTROQ·FELIX· ·AUSPICE·DEO encircles the design, with the mint mark and assayer initials at the base.
