Obverse lettering CAROLUS III D G HISPAN ET IND REX 1762
Reverse description The elaborately detailed crowned arms of the Spanish monarchy occupy the central field, quartered with the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with the fleur-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the center point and the granada (pomegranate) of Granada at the base. The shield is encircled by an ornate decorative chain or floral wreath border. The mint mark 'S' for Santiago and the assayer initial 'J' appear in the lower portion of the field, flanking a crowned cross ornament, with rosette stops. The circumferential Latin legend NOMINA MAGNA SEQUOR runs around the periphery.
