Additional information

KM#PnA6 is a pattern issue, not a circulating coin — struck speculatively or for official consideration as Chile worked through competing monetary proposals in the mid-1830s. The silver-plated copper construction is the tell: it was a cost-conscious way to present a proposed denomination without committing to gold or silver stock. Whether it ever reached a formal committee or simply sat in a drawer at the Santiago mint is unrecorded.
