Reverse description Central field presents a dramatic depiction of a multi-tiered stone fortress or tower rising from turbulent waves, rendered in fine relief with meticulous architectural detail including battlements, windows, and rusticated masonry; the structure is likely an allegorical representation of the Hohensalzburg fortress as a symbol of steadfast faith. Flanking the tower at either side are large wind-heads (personifications of winds) blowing vigorously, while above the tower divine rays of light descend from clouds, conveying heavenly favour. The date 1594 appears prominently in the upper field. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads IN DOMINO SPERANS NON INFIRMABOR, translating as 'Trusting in the Lord I shall not be Weakened,' a personal motto of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau.
