| Obverse description | Elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Abbey of Quedlinburg, flanked by ornate mantling and supporters, surmounted by three ornate crested helmets in baroque style. The date 1617 is divided at the top of the field, flanking the central crest. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, identifying Abbess Dorothea by name and title. The heraldic composition is rendered in high relief with intricate detail characteristic of early seventeenth-century German goldsmith work. |
