Obverse description Two addorsed lions rampant face outward as heraldic supporters, each grasping a sword and bundle of arrows, flanking two joined Zürich municipal shields arranged point-to-point at center. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend MONETA NOVA REIPUBLICÆ TIGURINÆ distributed around the periphery, separated by small rosette stops. The overall design is executed in bold relief characteristic of Swiss hammered gold coinage of the mid-17th century.
