Gabrisnote is the personal fantasy note label of Slovak designer and engraver Matej Gabris, whose intaglio work has appeared on legitimate government issues across multiple countries. The "8 doubloons" denomination is a knowing nod to the Spanish colonial milled dollar — the original "piece of eight" — reframed here as pirate currency. Mary Read was a documented historical figure: an English-born privateer who sailed under Calico Jack Rackham and was arrested in 1720 off Jamaica, one of the few women in the historical record confirmed to have served as a Caribbean buccaneer.
Printed by DAS Security Printing with a watermark inclusion, this is a collectible art note, not legal tender anywhere.
